The business relationship between thyssenkrupp and China goes back to the 19th Century: On July 27th 1866, Alfred Krupp attended a meeting with the first delegation from China. With more than 150 years of good partnership, the long-term sustainable development between thyssenkrupp and China sets the base for today and tomorrow.

Today, there are more than 30 group companies, joint ventures and representative agencies affiliated to thyssenkrupp Group in China, employing about 18,000 people, and a total sales figure of ~€3 billion in the China Region in the fiscal year 2016/2017. China has become one of the Group’s most important strategic markets outside Germany.

In recent years, the localized development and additional value increase for local products has become the very core of the Group’s strategy in China. The Group has invested a total of RMB 15 billion Yuan in China. Recently the Group stepped up its investment in China, during the last year and this year, there will be 5 new projects and 1 expansion project put into production. Meanwhile an elevator testing tower serving China’s skyscrapers will also be put into production in Guangdong, China.

Currently, there are five major business areas under thyssenkrupp Group, providing full series of products and services covering multiple fields:


Components Technology Business Area mainly provides steering systems, camshaft, crankshafts, cylinder head module assembly, springs and stabilizers among other products and solutions. This Business Area also provide slewing bearing, ring rolling and building parts for wind power generating devices. 


Elevator Technology Business Area achieves rapid development in the field of elevators, escalators, moving walkways, passenger boarding bridges and barrier-free elevators.

Industrial Solutions Business Area focuses on the supply of specialized designs and engineering support to cement plants, chemical plants and materials handling equipment.

Materials Services Business Area Supplies non-ferrous metals and material service to the China market, the aviation materials company under this business area also provide one-stop industrial service for the aviation industry.

Steel Europe Business Area specializes in the supplying of galvanized sheet to the automobile industry.
